June 6, 2001 Garland Community HospitalGARLAND, Texas - Garland Community Hospital announced today that Leland Medical Centers has signed a letter of intent to purchase the hospital. Terms of the sale, scheduled to close in August, were not disclosed. Garland Community Hospital, located at 2696 West Walnut, is a 113-bed acute care hospital that provides a wide range of health care services including behavioral medicine, medical/surgical, critical and emergency services. "We received an offer for the hospital that made good business sense," said Bill Rohloff, administrator of Garland Community Hospital. "We are pleased that the hospital will be able to continue to serve the community under its new owners." Leland Medical Centers is a privately held company that is dedicated to community-based, patient-centered healthcare. "We are excited to add a facility such as Garland Community Hospital to the Leland team," said Jim McKinney, president of Leland Medical Centers. "We believe that Garland Community Hospital advances our goal of bringing quality, physician-directed healthcare to select communities." Leland Medical Centers was founded in 1992 and is based in Plano, Texas. Leland has designed, built and opened two hospitals in Texas. They are currently partnering with 40 local physicians in building a hospital in Arlington, Texas, which is scheduled to open in September 2002. Leland intends to complete the purchase of Garland Community Hospital in August and work closely with the hospital's medical staff, local board and hospital employees in assessing the future healthcare needs of the Garland community. |
